Good to hear! Is it true soft paint is harder to correct?

What are the chances of autogeek matching this price?

Re: New to detailing with a few questions!
I myself would go for the below:
Griot's Garage 6" Polisher 129.99
Meguiars W67DA 5" Backing Plate 19.99
Low-Profile Lake Country Hydro-Tech 5.5" 3 Pack all tangerine 23.99
Low-Profile Lake Country Hydro-Tech 5.5" 3 Pack all crimson 23.99
Meguiars Ultimate Compound 9.99
Meguiars M205 8.99
Total of $217. If you need a pad with more cut, you can get a two-pack of Meguiar's DA microfiber cutting discs for 19.99.
UC is a pretty versatile compound - less cut than 105, but also less dusting and far longer working time. You can use it on the MF pads if you need a more cut, or with the tangerine pads for a one-step (depending on the paint, UC can leave an LSP-ready finish). Again depending on the paint, you can use 205 on the tangerine pads for light to medium swirl removal, or with the crimson pads as a second polishing step after compounding.

Re: New to detailing with a few questions!
If I were to choose between the two kits I'd go with your 2nd option....
I'm not a big fan of kits but for the most part they provide all the basics you'll need plus a few more that you may not find worth while. I like to build my own kit and from here you have several options..
Option 1
Choose a machine and pad system like Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction System. This combination works very well and even though it's relatively new it has a growing following.
Porter Cable 7424xp
Option 2
Porter Cable 7424xp
Some product thoughts
Wash - Duragloss #901
Clay - Meguiar’s Clay
Compound - PG 1000 – PowerGloss Compound (POS34A)
Polish - PF 2500 – Power Finish Polish (PO203)
Finishing Polish - SF 4000 – Super Finish Polish (PO106FA)
1-Step - Duragloss 501
Sealant - Duragloss 105 TPP
Duragloss 601 Bonding Agent
Wax - Collinite 845
Here's some great information by Mike Phillips that will help you.
