not nesisarily, its more of a high performance engine sort of thing. High performance naturally aspirated engines are usually higher compression, and octane is even more important on forced induction high performacne engines.

Im not sure if it was talked about yet, but the octne rating is the gas's resistance to pre-ignition or detonation. It has nothing to do with making more or less power, its what will correctly run the engine.

I get 21-22 on my OBC in a 02 330XI. I am usually first off the line. I also use the Red Line SI-1 twice a year.

I had a 2006 Acura TL that called for 93 oct, now i have a 2005 accord v6 3.0 vtec. I thought it was close to the same engine but it doesnt say on the gas door or dash to put 93 in it. Hey i just had a good idea...im gonna read my owners manual. Which of the products mentioned can i find otc? I have found seafoam, lucas, and BG 13 at advance discount auto parts.

Thanks Stang. I looked in my manual and it just said 86 or higher. I have read or heard about the gas debate before so I just use 89. Cuz its in the middle. LOL

easy answer, driving style. You said it yourself that you have a heavy foot. Driving like that in ANY car will not yield good mileage. You could get crappy mileage in a prius if you always had your foot on the floor.

Ive gotten up to 28mpg on my OBC in my GTO when driving very very camly on the highway for awhile, on the ither hand ive seen this number drop to as low as 8mpg, when having some fun.

The highest I got on the highway was 26, overall at every fill up is 21-22. And I always reset the OBC at fill up.

TSX I can get up to 33 on the highway.
