What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Just finished a 500 mile road trip to the coast and back. Lots of back roads lots of bugs and LOTS of storms
I’ve been using reflect lately on my glass. It’s over top of griots ceramic glass coating, but it’s been working great nice a slick makes the bugs easier to remove. I was able to drive in some of the worst rain I’ve been In while barely using the wipers. (No cars around to generate spray) I applied a top coat right before driving into a bad storm and im glad I did.

I am not happy with the p&s glass cleaner I got on discount. When used to get the bugs off, it really wanted to streak. Lots of work to get it right.

Rinseless wash with a bug sponge 🧽

Family drove out almost 1500 miles through the Midwest to deliver some "hand me downs" to the next generation. I couldn't let the car leave dirty. Did a full decon and played with some Undrdog products. I tend to use UD when I know this coating will never see a proper wash again. They take a beating fairly well.

The nicest part is it was pretty easy because it's the exact same Volvo my wife has. No surprises and happy in-laws.

It 100% needed a polishing but just couldn't get to it with time constraints. While not doctored, the pictures might be selective to hide swirls.

I spent a couple of hours yesterday evening working through the front row in the new truck. Lots of plastic, lots of angles and edges and nooks and crannies. I see a Tornador in my futureIMG_6720.jpegIMG_6721.jpegIMG_6722 copy.jpeg

The inside wasn't any better off than the paint, lots of smudges and blotches and scratches as you can see. I used quite a bit of P&S Express at 1:1 to get it cleaned up and I tried all of my interior detailers to see what worked best but the jury is still out on that. The center of the steering wheel is padded vinyl and was particularly nasty on top as if something harsh had been spilled there and I am going to have to resort to something stronger than Express because it has a tacky feel to it after cleaning with Express. All that blue anodized aluminum has me worried as well, figuring out the best practice to keep it clean and scratch free. I will get some after pictures posted once I decide on an interior detailer and get that vinyl sorted.

Give TWHS inside job a look for that interior. Ceramic and Graphene. based. Been using it since the ZR2 was new. Safe for all interior surfaces. Leaves a nice natural finish and protection.

OReillys says they have it so I will give it a try

Toyota and Lexus interiors seem to be especially finicky in my world

The Lexus' love ADS Pilot but so far it isn't the best choice on the new truck, plus I still don't care for the smell, with all due respect to @DFB

My bottle of Adams interior cleaner has started smelling vinegary, and with the berry scent it already had, it smells like a vinaigrette salad dressing so I might toss it

With 2 of us working on the car we knocked it out in 3 hrs, funny thing is, its about how much time it takes me alone, high motor I've got I guess, although he worked on the interior with a couple of my products like DIY Detail Interior Ceramic and Bilt-Hamber Traceless glass cleaner

I applied/removed the ADS glass coating myself and the ADS Phobics was applied by me, removed by him and I applied 3x's ADS Ghost Tire Coating with proper dry time inbetween. All in all, it was a great time, we haven't done this in quite some time, making memories as I get older

I'll have some outside pics next, stay "tuned"

I did a "trust the process" rinseless today with N914 v2 and the big gold sponge. No grit guard, no rinse bucket, just 1 bucket and 1 sponge. Used my new M22 liquid8r for drying duties (I love this towel)

This is what the sponge looked like after:

And this is what the solution looked like after I was done:

Funny, I washed a family members Volvo XC60 yesterday as well.

Does the hood opening freak you out too?

How do short, or even normal height, people reach that?

I'm quite tall and even I have to reach up on my toes to bring it down. Being aluminium, and with quite heavily charged struts, you have to guide the hood open as it tends to want to snap up on you. It does however make working on the engine bay nice and easy, ie headroom.
