Full body scanner for cars

This is what Hertz is starting to use for their rental cars. Definitely stories popping up about people not being happy about it - getting automatically charged based on the scan without people reviewing it first and high likelihood that Hertz isn't actually using that money to repair the cars.

I see this as a great money maker for rental companies. I also see needing a lawyer to dispute it and potentially facing forced arbitration.

Does anyone think it can tell the difference between a scratch and a grease pen mark?

I've always treated any rental car like my own, I even clean them when I take them back only to be told off, for doing it.

I was up at Cradle Mountain few weeks back and saw some Chinese tourists and said "Get down...Take cover" they were driving 2025 Nissan X- trails that looked nice.

I wonder how it will work on a wet car, say if you return it when it's raining.

New opportunity, fake spray on bird poo, for hiding small scratches on rental cars when you return them.

then they charge you a cleaning fee instead of a fee for damage. planning on taking my vacation rental to the car wash after i'm done before turning it in. Avis is apparently charging people cleaning fees now.

The last thing I rented was a small truck when we were moving house, I did clean the windshield, but that was as soon as I got it, and I used my leaf blower to blow the cabin out, the dogs rode with me to the new house, even though they said no pets allowed, they didn't notice anything.
