Well, ADS announced v.2 of their pro coating today, and they have made it available to everyone, so no more proving you are worthy. I'm not sure if they used to show the price when it was behind the paywall previously, but it's $150 for 30ml, which is almost twice the price of the regular Quartz coating.

It's supposed to be easier to use, more better, longer shelf life, no more black bottle (now you can see the level in the bottle), etc.

Let the arguing begin.

PS I just finished watching their video, and they specifically said "if you have some brand new plastics on a new car, go right over those...all those kind of surfaces are great for this pro coating". I mention that because this came up in another thread about whether you need to allow plastic trim to "off-gas" before applying a coating.

PPS They tout this coating as having "dual-phase bonding" in that it also bonds during your leveling wipe...which from the video makes the leveling wipe look more like a second application wipe...not sure if this kind of makes this coating 2 or 1.5 times more work than a "traditional" coating.

As hobbiest, this pricing alone will keep me from using it.

Hopefully some of these features like the shelf life, ease of use, and the new bottle will trickle down to the Quartz coating too.

I've never had issues with putting a coating over new plastic surfaces. I've done it over the last few years on several different cars with at least three different coatings and not had any issues.

This was "a thing" brought up by another member without any real backup; I contend it's NOT "a thing", and that the longer you wait to protect plastic trim the more trouble you are asking for.

I didn't see this until I got TRC's more hyperbolic email about the coating, but they are claiming 5+ years durability. Oddly, TRC says the coating is "87% solids content (SiO2)", ADS says the solids content is "~65% activity level".

Not sure what "activity level" means, but the normal Quartz coating is stated to have a 66% solids content, 1% higher than the pro version unless something different is being measured.

Maybe that's why this one is easier to use (than the original version) because the solids level is the same as the non-pro, but it achieves its higher film build from the "dual-phase" bonding.

Who’s gonna be the first to give this a go?
Too expensive for me. I also just applied the regular Quartz to my car this spring and have another year or so with the coating on our other car, so I won't be needing to coat anything, even if I was willing to pay the price, for a while.

Thought about it for the new car we're taking delivery of but its going to be garaged 90% of the time, don't think the extra (almost double) cost is worth the longevity.

Typically I would jump all over it to test it out as it also makes great content for my YouTube channel as well. But I’m holding off on Pro V2. I didn’t have the best of luck with Pro V1 barely making it to 18 months where it had lost a majority of its hydrophobic behavior. Which was a bit underwhelming considering I am in Southern California. V2 is intriguing for its easier application as their v1 coatings were not the easiest to use.

I had good luck with quartz V1, 50/50 with phobic and not so much luck with the wheel coating. 22ple’s wheel coating is still the best wheel coating and they are no longer around.

So unless DJ or Bradley want to donate a bottle of Pro V2 and/or even Quartz V2 😀, I won’t be testing them until I make the decision to pull the trigger.

2025 for me has been a slow buying of products for me. I have gone the route of trusting my gut and it telling me to pull the trigger or not. The only thing I pulled the trigger on was Optimum No Rinse V6. Other products have been sent to me. As a matter of fact I am and have been consolidating this year but either trashing old items, giving them away or selling them.

Cabinets are feeling light at the moment and it’s a great feeling.

When did they come out with a quartz v2? I have not bought any of thier coatings since last summer/fall.
