Fishincricket, if this radical plan of yours works, I'd recommend you get them on the Meg's MF system with D300/D301. That dealer recon environment was what it was designed for, it's easy and works great.

That's the kinda advice that keeps me coming here!! Taking notes, researching this shortly..

Funny thing is, I was informed today that we do, in fact, have monthly visits from the Meguiars guy... So this should be an easy transition!
    I see swirls everywhere!!!

    Re: Swirled out Solstice

    Update:

Arrived at work at 8:05 to see that the detail man had already pulled out the solstice I had prepped and pulled in a black Escalade! Can you say curve ball? Luckily you guys prepared me..

He says "covering or removing swirls is one thing, but if that thing isn't powerful enough to remove fingernail scratches from a dog jumpin up on the fender, then I don't wanna waste my time with it."

Needless to say I was undaunted, and only check to see if I can catch a fingernail on them, which I could not. You'll see some of them just above the chrome panel on this escalade, but they were actually all over the panel, just bad lighting:

And here you'll see them gone after six passes with Maguiars ultimate compound:

And then comes the suggestion of a "wipedown", which apparently is done with the soap and water he used to wash a used truck this AM.
But he admits that the swirls are gone, as well as the nail scratches.

Now things are really starting to roll.. I just pulled the Solstice back in, imma go grab a bite and then hit it. One last look at those swirls:
    I see swirls everywhere!!!

I'm hopeful that this will spark a nation wide realization by dealerships that they are all "doing it wrong"!

But I'm a realist, so I know I'll have to continue with the "Hey, don't you even think about touching my paint while you are servicing my vehicle" speech.

Doubtful but some dealerships are very understanding. I had a 2013 Mustang GT delivered and told them NOT TO TOUCH THE PAINT. Well when it was delivered and ready to be picked up it still had the transport plastic on it.
