Would you recommend using XMT on a new car with light swirls?

Sorry for the late reply, just now found it...
You could but if it were my "new" car I would use a dedicated process approach, that is use a dedicated polish that has the sole purpose of removing swirls and then I would apply a "finishing wax", or finishing sealant or coating, etc.

Re: KISS Detail - Extreme Makeover - Toyota Highlander
Now this I like to see. Some makeovers of "users" (as I like to call some of the knives in my pocket knife collection). I can't wait to see how that blue car (can't tell what it is) comes out.
Nice job on the Toyota too. I'm about to do the same thing on my 2004 4-Runner that sits outside all the time and is also a "user".

Re: KISS Detail - Extreme Makeover - Toyota Highlander
mike, really terrific/inspiring job here... i own a white '07 camry, and will be putting your tips to use to improve the esthetic appeal of the car.
as a white car, mine also has little rock chips that are eye-sores in the paint (and a couple of irritating bumps on the back bumper-cover from my unavoidable 24/7 street-parking situation)... are there any articles on AGO about touching up the paint or even removing small dents/bumps? cheers!

Thank you, I try to cover both spectrusm, production detailing, show car detailing and a little in-between.

There are some articles on touching up rock chips and scratches on this forum but I don't recall any on doing PDR, at least not that I can think of, that's a real art form.
Here's two very good how-to threads on doing touch-up work...

I am going to do the same.
I haven't been online for a while and this is the first post I looked at. I really feel motivated to break out the clay/cleaner wax.
The chips on the hood really make the beauty of the detail and discilpline of the owner POP!
