Re: Black BMW From Horrible to Honorable
Beautiful work !! I have a lift similar to that but does not go that high . I want to sell the one I have and get one like that , looks to be more useful than the one I have .

Here's what I faced at the start:
Soooooooo....it was a double compound. First with wool and 3M Extra Cut, then foam and 3M Perfect-It 3000 compound.
Some work-in-progress shots of the door
Peppered bumper
Most of the small peppering is gone
Here's a good comparison of Before and After
A direct flash from the camera will also show you how the finish is doing!
Some overall shots
After the double compounding, I used Menzerna 106 with a Meguiar's yellow polish pad to remove some trace scratches. Then back to 3M Dark Glaze followed by 3M Ultrafina SE.
Monday....it's wax time which will be #26.
This was a hard clear coat that finished nicely.

Re: Black BMW From Horrible to Honorable
I must say Richard, you get some of the most difficult looking paint problems to work with. Like one of the previous replies said, it appears the car was washed with a brillo pad. But like always, you restore it to an outstanding appearance. I never get tired of looking at your post. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.

The dealer got it from Snap-On some years ago.
The ability to work on the lower portion of the car and the shop environment really contributes to the success of the results. It's very comfortable to work at a natural height with adequate lighting and nice temperatures. I don't think I could ever accomplish these results doing driveway detailing.
