Restoring a really bad grille on a F250

Customer asked if I could do anything about this weather beaten, peeling front grille on a 2002 Ford F250.

I said that there's not much I can do about the peeling chrome except try to make it more noticeable. I said that I could paint the grille.

    Here's the final product:

I cleaned it as well as possible with APC, Grime Reaper, clay bar with Opti for clay lube. I wet sanded with 400 grit sand paper , then cleaned it again.

Customer was very happy and i was pleased with the results. Thanks for following along!

Nice! That center section looks like that’s just how it could have been from the factory.

These ford grilles use some pvc aluminum stuff that is basically garbage and im a ford fan. It pits and corrodes fast and is hard to clean. I do like the chrome but maybe they should have offered a powder coated version back then. Some might plasti dip them but I dont know how that would hold up.

This engine enamel with ceramic has a really nice look. Better than peel coat.
