DP Interior Surface Protecant Quick Review
This will be a quick review without any pictures. Despite temps being far above normal right now, the weather was gray and wet which made the lighting terrible for taking pictures.
I selected a sample of DP Interior Surface Protectant in an order several months ago. I'm starting to run low on 303 Aerospace, and thought I'd give another product a try. My test victim in this review was my MK6 GTI. The interior materials have variety of different textures on both the leather and the vinyl/plastic; all of it black.
I found the product really easy to apply one things were going. The sample bottle was really hard to get primed and moving product, but I blame that on the one-size-fits-all inexpensive sample spray bottle and not the product. I'd expect the "regular" bottle to perform just fine.
Application:
- I sprayed the product on a MF towel first, not directly on any of the surfaces.
- When applying with a MF towel, it goes on very evenly with no streaking. On my dash area, I've encountered times when 303 would streak or leave random areas looking different from others, even after buffing. A second application would be needed to even things out. I did not experience this phenomenon with DP. I simply wiped the surface and moved on.
- The product dries quickly and doesn't require any follow up buffing. I applied the product very thin, and found buffing was not required. The temps were in the high 60's with humidity levels well over 90% and periodic showers. I would have fully expected those conditions to effect product application/drying but that was not the case.
Appearance:
- On hard plastics like switch gear, vents, and stereo faces you couldn't really tell the product was applied. No shine or satin look was noticeable. The surfaces might have been a *bit* darker, but only slightly.
- On soft touch vinyl and treated leather there was a noticeable darkening of the surface. It didn't leave those surfaces shiny, glossy, or really satin-ish, yet it wasn't the matte appearance of 303.
- On a scale of products I've used in the past I'd put the end result appearance somewhere between 303 and Meguiars Natural Shine Protectant. I found it to give all the surfaces a very nice, dark, healthy look, if that makes any sense.
Conclusion:
I really liked using this sample and happily, I have plenty left in the bottle. I'm happy with the the results I've achieved with 303 in the past, but I found DP Interior Surface Protectant to be easier to apply and I prefer the final look as well.
I'll happily finish off my bottle of 303, but once it's gone I've found a replacement I like a little better.

Re: DP Interior Surface Protecant Quick Review
Been using it for years. I never had a need to try anything else. And the 32oz will last years.
