In the middle of the detail it's only 1 pad to clean, but at the end of the day it could be a small bucket full sometimes. Also stopping to clean the pads means a break from that UDM/PC vibration.

Like Gary, I just toss them in a bucket with pad cleaner and put a fresh one on.

In time out
Personally, I wash the pad out quickly with some Wolfgang pad cleaner. Then I spin them dry or blot them dry, then back to work!

Since I have so many pads that I've ordered. I use a new pad for every panel.
A cleaner pad has faster cutting ability. So I use it, set it aside and then clean it at night; since I only used it once, there's barely any residue on it anyways so it comes clean really easy.

I have number of pads at hand, I just slap new one on, I clean them later, time is money.

So be careful when free spinning a pad on a machine because it can fly off at a rapid speed. I've seen it happen.
(That is mostly for the hook and loop pad users. I don't see the edge type system pads having this problem.)
Yeah first time I dried mine this way I didn't know that people were doing it at a lower speed and/or putting their hand on the bottom for pressure. I cranked up the PC and my pad came flying off. Ended up in my neighbor's yard across the street and was doing about Mach 4 when it went over there. Pretty sure I heard the sound barrier break as it headed over there.
