Question about PC 7424XP washers
I just bought the PC 7424XP combo pack that includes Wolfgang Swirl Remover, Finishing Glaze, and it comes with a 5.5 backing plate. The backing plate came with 2 washers, the standard black plastic washer and the other one is a grayish one. I know that I'm supposed to use the black plastic washer after reading all these posts, but what is the gray one for? Thanks in advance.

Re: Question about PC 7424XP washers
I think the gray one is a thread protector, not a washer.
The Compression Washer
The common Compression Washer used with popular DA Polishers is about the size of a U.S. Quarter.

I saw one around here, let me see if I can find it...

A newbie question, what does the gray thread protector do? Do I need it?

If it's the part I'm thinking of it looks like a little sleeve and it goes over the threads to protect them from being damaged during shipping. Once you place the backing plate onto the spindle you no longer need it.

Thanks Mike. I appreciate your helpful answers. That's probably what it is. I was confused as to why I received to different ones. The black one is for sure the right one since I read all these posts, the gray one is smaller and thicker.
