XMT 360 problems removing from pad
XMT 360 problems removing from pad
I used XMT 360 corrects, cleans, and seals auto paint! XMT 360 is more than a cleaner wax, its a swirl remover, polish, and paint sealant in one. on the Saturn Sky i recently detailed and the product worked VERY well on the car, but did not work so well coming off my 4" Orange Cyclo Polishing pad.
the pic below shows a used and cleaned Cyclo Orange 4" pad on the left, and on the right is the pad i used the XMT 360 on. Well, when i tried to clean it, same as the pad on the left, thats how it came out. i claened the HELL out of the pad and there is soooo much stuff still in it. never takes more than a few minutes to clean these pads, but i worked on this one for 20 min. lol.

I love XMT 360, just did the wifes car with it. I used the pad prep and after tossed it in a bucket with APC in it for an hour and it came out super clean.
'Cause there's just something women like about a pickup man.

Menzerna SIP and Nano. VERY easily. takes a couple minutes per pad and its totally clean and sitting to dry. ive even let the Menzerna set in the pad for like 304 days and it was still just as easy as doing it right away.

Many people have been cleaning their pads like that with no negative effects.

I knew the answer to my questions before I asked it and you just confirmed what I going to tell everyone.
Most professional grade compounds and polishes are water soluble, that's so in a body shop situation if after compounding a car they wanted to wash the car to rinse splatter out of cracks, crevices, body seams, etc, the can do so.
Waxes are supposed to LAST.
By this I mean, they are not supposed to wash off with water when you wash your car or drive it in a rain storm. The protection ingredients are NOT WATER SOLUBLE. If they were, and the wax washed off in the rain they you would be upset.
So for the same reason you dislike that the product won't wash EASILY out of your buffing pad is the exact same reason you love a wax in the first place and that is so it will stay on the paint and protect the paint.
Make sense?
In a nutshell, a quality wax or paint sealant SHOULD be VERY DIFFICULT to wash out of a pad. If it's not.... then how long is going to hold up on a car's finish?
I've written on this topic a number of times recently, doing a SEARCH using the terms or tags,
Soluble
Detergent-Resistant
Insoluble
Should find some more information on this topic...

Here's a thread with more info on why it's hard to remove a wax or paint sealant out of ANYTHING
Yet a compound or polish will release and wash out easily...
