Car Washing and Polishing Registration
Yet another post regarding us Californians. It looks like this registration is going to cost $300, along with a minimum of $150,000 in a car wash bond? I'm not exactly sure what a car wash bond is but I'm assuming it's like insurance. I've read through a lot of material on this and it all seems quite confusing. How many of you actually have it (or don't) in CA?
I really don't want to pay for this lol.

I'm not really sure if I'm even required to have it if I'm a sole proprietorship. How many of you actually have it (or don't) in CA?

Here is a post on the IDA news feed. Included is a template of a letter which you can fill out to persuade against the bond:

Re: Car Washing and Polishing Registration
It seems like this is just required for detailers who employ workers. Am i reading that right?

Re: Car Washing and Polishing Registration
The easiest thing to do is ask a established detail company in your area.

so I asked about this and from my understanding all detailers have to have it, im looking at other options as well

Re: Car Washing and Polishing Registration
The costs associated with starting a mobile detailing business in my area is quickly becoming a nightmare. Each tiny city (averaging 30 sq. miles) within my county is a corporation, meaning I would need a separate business license with a fee of around $100 each. All of this on top of a California Car Washing and Polishing Registration?
Yikes, i'm looking at costs of around $1,000 just for startup business licensing fees, which have to be renewed annually. Not to mention California taxes. I'm too far in to turn back now though lol.

That's absolutely absurd...Kalifornia.
If'n it snowed there you'd probably have to register your snow shovel and levy an 'Environmental Detritus Temporary Storage' real estate tax on wherever you put the snow shoveled off your walk.
Of all the real issues CA has, whoever came up with this needs a punch in the head.
