Griots 3" plate vs LC 3" plate?
I just got in my Mini-Griots! Do you guys just use the Griot's 3" backing plate that comes with the polisher? Would the Lake Country 3" one be any better or worse?

Can't comment on the Griots, but the LC one is bullet proof. The 6" Griots plate is fine. Just use what ya have.

Old post, but I'll chime in...
I have both backing plates, and the LC one is definitely thicker and much firmer than the GG one. The only time I really need to use the GG plate is when working on contoured areas with thin pads, such as the 3" CarPro orange peel pads. I can post side by side pictures later if you want.

Please do. Thank you! I've got the LC 6" and the GG 6", but not the 3".. how much of a difference does the stiffness of the backing plate make with the thin pads, or any pad for that matter, on a DA?

The 2nd and 3rd pictures are intended to show the stiffness of the GG pad vs the LC pad. First off, I should say that the pads don't differ much in the amount of overall cushion they provide, but they do differ in flexibility. In the 2nd picture, you can see the edge of the pad and BP compressing due to the pressure on the edge. In the 3rd picture, you can see the edge of the pad compressing, but not the BP. This is the difference, and you can really feel it on a curved panel with thin pads like these. Again, not necessarily a bad thing, nor a reason not to buy one.

Did you cut down the LC plate? Seems a little rough around the edges. The 3.5" LC backing plate looks like the Griot 3" BP..beveled on the edge.

No, that's how it came. The only modification I made was adding a black line with a Sharpie. You're absolutely right about the 3.5" LC. I also took pictures of that and will upload those later.

I actually like the 3" LC BP, I'm just pointing out its differences.

Re: Griots 3" plate vs LC 3" plate?
Would I be wrong in thinking that the thinner, and perhaps lighter Griots 3" backing plate might actually be better in some ways for this small DA Machine?
I'm thinking smaller, with less weight-mass may offer better performance?
I know many of you have said the baby Griots is not a powerhouse DA.
So far, with the few occasions I've used my baby griots, I've had no issues with the stock Backing Plate.
