Re: Thinking about buying Flex 3401
You are my Hero, a pink 3401 and a toy poodle. Who says you need a Rupes 21, a Pitbull and a 12' pick- up to have balls of steel. Rock on KB, Rock On!!!

Re: Thinking about buying Flex 3401
This past week, I used my FLEX for a couple full compounds and polishes. I like the machine but honestly, I don't enjoy using it all day. It is grabby and its use on vertical panels is not enjoyable to me.
If I could go back, I think I would've invested in the Meguiar's MT300 system of Rupes.
I have years of rotary experience and I just feel the FLEX wants to grab more than the rotary and on cars with a lot of body lines or features, it is a constant effort to keep it where you want it to go. I found in some situations, I had to have it sideways or at an odd angle to guide the tool smoothly.
I had no buffer hop, etc. Went smooth and it does do a great job but I personally am looking to go with the RUPES or MT300. I'd rather invest a little more time for less strain on my physically.
I haven't decided yet maybe Ill do some more cars with it but really I feel it redundant with a rotary to compound and the PC to just throw a finishing polish is a lot less strain on me.
Just my $.02 so far.

I did it! I just got off the phone with Nick. I bought the 3401 after some discussion.
I want to thank Nick for his time and help! I have been researching, reading, reviewing, etc.
I ordered the 3401 HD model, 3 of each Hybrid Orange, White and Black, 1 Hybrid wool.
When talking with Nick he kept asking what else can we get, I tell you that AG has one heck of a sales guy here as I kept adding.
I also picked up WG Uber 3.0, 6 pack Cobra glass towels and Mike's Flex 3401 book.
I cannot wait for the shipment to come in!

Please do report back after the learning curve has you in a comfort zone. Nothing beats first hand reports, especially in the hands of someone with an unbiased opinion. I've pretty much decided to purchase one and relagate my GG to a 3" for tight spots. Seems like I could get it all done with 3401/GG combination. Good luck and take care.
Peace,
Darrin

Hi Darrin,
I will definitely do that. I plan to two step my Toyota Tundra with the 3401 and GG6/GG3. Even though its a large truck with mainly large panels, there are still some small panels to deal with.
Its dark blue also and had car wash scratches that need to be taken out. I didn't realize it but the dealer was washing my car each time they changed the oil for free during the first two years.
I still use it as a truck but once I am able to correct the paint, I will have no problem keeping up with maintenance washes and sealant applications.
Thanks again for posting!
