    Recommend me some new pads!

I have PC7424XP and have the following:

    6" 148mm backing plate
    6" Counter weight
    6.5" LC white pad x2
    6.5" LC orange pad x1
    6.5" LC green pad x1
    6.5" LC blue pad x1
    6.5" LC black pad x1

    4" 85mm LC backing plate
    4" LC orange pad x1
4" LC foamed wool pad x1
    4" LC green pad x1

I use the green, orange and wool pad the most. Plan on adding more useful pads to the arsenal.

    A few questions:

    a) Will the 5.5 pads work on the 6" or 4" backing plates?
    b) What are your opinions on the 5.5, 6.5 and 4" inch pads?
    c) I know there's the new LC Hydro, CCG, CCS etc etc out there and have a hard time deciding on which to get (type/size)

I have the following polishes - Meg's 105, Menzerna Power Gloss, Menzerna SIP, Menzerna Nano Polish. Probably adding these in the future - Menzerna Power Finish, Meg's 205, Wolfgang TSR. So a pad that'll make the compliment with these polishes will be great too.

I just use it for deeper scratches and more neglected defects. Works well with the Power Gloss

6" Backing Plate needs 6.5" pads.

4" Backing Plate shouldn't go bigger than 4" pads. 5" Backing Plate with 6" Pads is okay because you are dealing with large pads anyways. But 4" Backing Plate with 5" (or bigger) pads is kind of pushing it.

Get Hydro-Tech Pads. Based on the backing plates you already have, you should go with Hydro-Tech 6.5" Pads and Hydro-Tech 4" Pads (a few of each of the two colors). The Hydro-Tech Pads do exactly what Autogeek says they do and they work nicely on a PC.

The 3.5 inch(not 4 inch) BP is too small for a 5.5 inch pad. Use 6 inch BP for 6.5 inch pads. Use the 5 inch BP for the 5.5 inch CCS/flat or 6 inch kompressor pads. Use the 3.5 inch BP for 4 inch pads only.

+1 on the HT pads. See my review of them here. Review of the New Hydro-Tech 6.5" Pads

I thought 6.5in was to big for the PC to get any correction out of them?

You've got everything you need, perhaps you just need to pick up a few more of what you only have one of. Multiple pads of what you use most frequently is a good thing. One thing you may want to consider is some of the low-profile orange 4" pads.

Lake Country 4 Inch Foam Pads Low Profile- Made of high quality foam, these pads have hook & loop backing all the way to the edges. The benefit of

They're cheap and very versatile for correction in tight places like bumpers and around badges.

I'd definitely have more than one PFW pad in both sizes as it's the most versatile pad I've used. Heavier pressure and longer work time with M105 and you can get some serious correction. Lighter pressure and less work time and I've had lighter colors that were near-LSP ready with 105 & PFW.

If I had it to do over again I'd go no larger than 5.5" on the PC with a 5" BP. I've got a bunch of 6.5"ers in every color that I use with the Flex these days, I pretty much have dedicated the PC to the 4" pads. One thing for sure, if you don't have the budget for a ton of pads versatility is key. You can do larger areas with smaller pads if you have to, pretty tough to do smaller, tight areas with a larger pad.

    YMMV.... TL
