Coating painted wheels: Pay for pro coating or gtechniq c1
I Want to use a coating on the wheels of our new car. I have the option of paying a detailer for opticoat pro, or I can do them myself with some gtechniq c1 I bought forever ago.
"Permanent" would be great on wheels since its a pain to keep them clean (especially the 5 twin spoke design of our wheels) but I've always wondered if even ocp is really permanent, or if c1 (or any other consumer grade coating) really ISN'T permanent
Thanks in advance.

I've had really good luck with the DP wheel coating.

I applied Opticoat to my own wheels. It has been very easy to keep clean. Normal shampoo most of the time and every other month I will clean them with some CG Diablo.
I am not expecting to get the full 5 years out of it. The coating may still be there (as in permanent) but the water and dirt repellency will have diminished.
Opti-Coat or C1 w/ EXO on top would both be excellent choices. The Gtechniq option should give the greater water repellency behavior

Not enough of a difference to pay for it when you can do it yourself especially on the wheels.

Thanks everyone.
Looks like Ill use the C1 that I already have. Hitting the wheels with Dub wheel cleaner to remove any iron and will clay and polish them by hand afterwards.
The wheels have 5 miles on them (literally, just 5) so they are already pretty clean. Shouldnt take too much work to prep and finish them.
Thanks again.

Curious as to what was the OC Pro detailer's estimate to coat the wheels?

Sent you a PM in case pricing talk is frowned upon.
