Claying new car
I have a 2014 BMW 335 in black metallic that I plan on using my Porter Cable on next week. I've had the car since December and put a coat of Klasse AIO and sealant on it when new. Do I need to clay prior to the polish and sealant.
Thanks for the help.

Do the bag test!
I'm willing to bet you do. I've had my 14 Altima since 12/22 and clayed when I bought it. It def needs to be done again before I polish and coat it.

Just do it!! I use the Nanoskin Blues sponge as my clay as it saves about 50% of the traditional clay. Since I have the Sponge, I clay about 1 time every 2 months. If you are using the traditional clay, might I suggest a Nanoskin sponge. The blue is all you need based on what you do to your ride
BTW, Nice ride!!

Thanks for the quick response guys. This forum is always so helpful. I figured I would probably need to clay. Kamakaz, thanks for the compliment on the car. It's a lot of fun.

For peace of mind. Remember prepping your paint will get you quality results.

With the BMW brake dust the way it is, I would also IronX between washing and claying.

You would be very surprised at how bad brand new cars are.

You'd be surprised how much contaminants are on the paint from the factory, the trip overseas, various transport, etc. Definitely yes clay before you polish with your Porter Cable.

You clay every two months? Do you follow up with a polish? I've found that some type of marring is unavoidable during the claying process and it is often recommended to follow up with a light polish.
If you are not polishing, then most likely there is some marring being left behind. Which is fine, if that doesn't bother you. Personally it drives me crazy; I wouldn't clay unless I plan on polishing afterwards.
Anyone who says they don't experience any marring isn't inspecting their paint closely enough afterwards.
