Convince me to wash my car with rain in sight

Checked the weather yesterday and there was no rain for the next week... checked again today and it will rain tonight.

I was planning to wash my car later today but it will likely rain tonight into tomorrow morning. I was planning to install my mudguards tomorrow and wanted to clean the area that it will cover to reduce any chance of dirt rubbing against my paint.

Are there any advantages of washing it before rains? I havent washed it in a month and I have Opti-Coat. Or should I just wash the area the mudguards will cover and wash the whole car after the rain stops?

I started washing my gar with 20% chance of rain. I'm not a lucky person so I kept washing/drying/spray detail during the light rain. Wife thought I was crazy. I lived it. Oh. And it was about 45 degrees and windy! But it eventually stopped raining and the car looked nice. GO FOR IT! IT'S YOUR PARTY!

I tell people; the fact it's gonna rain doesn't change the fact that my truck is dirty. I wash mine every Monday regardless the weather.

    ME!ME!ME!

I wash in the rain. Still use the two bucket method. Rinse with the hose, not bothering to hook up my water filtration system. Then let it stand in the rain for half an hour or so. Then move it into the garage for drying. The rain water is "spot free" and at least as good as my filtered water. I used a dissolved mineral meter and it was two just as the rain started, one after about five minutes, and zero after half an hour. I guess that the rain washed all the crud out of the atmosphere.
And just before moving the car into the garage I dry myself off and put on dry clothes. Wouldn't want to get the interior wet.

And YES, my neighbors think I should be committed.

Re: Convince me to wash my car with rain in sight

I washed mine yesterday, even though I knew we where getting snow today. I justified it by waxing it after, as I'm on a 30 day rotation of topping up my wax with another coat. Now the snow is sliding off super easy. One of the easiest ways to get your car 100% snow free is to spray it down with a pressure washer at the coin-op
