Re: Most regretted detailing product purchase

Meg's NXT spray wax and QD - horrible streaking and very tough to wipe off ( try Gold class, or the Ultimate ones instead)
DODO tyromania - not quite the finish I wanted and is expensive for a tire dressing (try CG silk shine instead)
Black magic car shampoo - only $5 for 64oz but foamed very little (almost any other shampoo is probably better)
Blue version of waffle weave dry towel - they're just feel thinner and cheaper and dry that way too (stick to the green ones, they're the best)

No regrets as all purchases were a part of the learning process. Disappointed my lawyer couldn't get more of my detailing stuff from my ex! Part of the learning process as well? Slowly rebuilding. Learning the Garry Dean "less is better" way! Lol

I've used it several times and with my dual action polisher. It goes on very easy and has some filling characteristics then buffs to a nice shine.
I'm only used it by hand at this point, maybe that's what I'm missing? I bought it purely as a glaze though, wanting to fill in minor imperfections, and I didn't see any of that effect (masking).

It seems like a lot of the disappointments are OTC products: Turtle Wax, Mothers, and Meg's NXT. Are people buying these OTC products because they are readily available or because of price? I haven't bought any OTC products (except clay) in quite a while. I'm just wondering what inspired these purchases.

    Same here.

I look at it the same way as I look at my ex-GFs. Most were good, some were bad, and some were great. But in the end I really don't regret dating any of them. Each taught me what I wanted and/or didn't want in women. Until finally I found the perfect woman for me.

So all of those purchases I've made over the year that didn't get more than a few uses was just my way of learning. It cost me a lot, but I've come to realize exactly what kind of product I want to use. It may not be the products everyone else loves, but for me it is perfect.

I've said it a few times on this thread and on another one that I actually like Turtle Wax just the Ice brand. The answer to your question is all of the above. OTC you don't have to worry about shipping cost and you can get it at any notice. I'm a big fan of Meguiars Ultimate and Gold Class brands. Never used Nxt and didn't care for Mothers except for the clay was very nice. A lot of people are afraid if they buy something online and don't like it there stuck with it and there are brands people just don't know about. That's what's great about this forum you don't have that fear anymore. Just ask about a review of a product your thinking about buying and within sec you have multiple answers to consider. Sorry for it being so long guys...
