Coll 845
I recently topped powerlock with collinite 845 on a Chevy Tahoe. I washed it this last weekend and it did not bead worth a hoot. i was really surprised because I just love 845 and what it does.
my plan is to more or less start over. I just got some cg citrus wash and gloss and was going to wash it with that in hopes that it will take off what's on there and then do either powerlock again and then 845 and topping it with a new container of MAX Wax.
does this sound about right or do I need plan for a clay also?
thanks for info.

Re: Coll 845
I don't understand why you love what 845 does but now you want to strip it. It should bead like a champ if it hasn't been on there long...how long has it actually been on, what kind of wash are you using, where is it parked, etc.

Re: Coll 845
wash is either meg yellow otc stuff with onr or i did use a sample of wg stuff. It is garaged in the evenings and in a parking ramp during the day.
It might of been on for less than two months.
Before it would totally bead for most of the life of the product, just did not understand what might have happened.
thanks for the reply.

Re: Coll 845
what is "meg yellow otc stuff"? If that has some sheeting stuff in it, it will kill your beading. I bought some Black Magic or something like that at Pep Boys because I couldn't resist the sale price as I walked by, and that stuff, besides coming in a bottle like laundry detergent with the drip free spout (great idea), and looking like fancy hair shampoo (white and sparkly), and having great suds, it totally killed the beading on my freshly LSP'd car...and was instantly relegated to uses like washing garbage cans...

I think he is talking about the Megs Ultimate Wash and Wax. That stuff should not hinder 845's beading. I've used it to wash vehicles with 845 and there is no change in the beading.
How long did you let the 845 dry before you took it off?

No, I'm not saying that at all, I'm saying some washes have sheeting agents that will bond to the paint. There are a few other things, like how much wash you are using, whether some contaminants have been allowed to sit on the paint (pollen, parking garage runoff), etc.

Yeppers...are you parking under a tree, anything along those lines? I had a great coat of 845 on my car and I parked under a tree for 2 days...and it rained. The sap coming off the tree from the rain totally killed the 845.

Just some graval dust. Since it the wife's car, sometimes she likes to take a gravel road or two.
if that is the case wash. clay and then cg citrus w and gloss then powerlock and 845?
or is that a way to revive the bead?
