    megs d151

im using d151 right now with a da on a white lc ccs pad. Now, when I wipe it off some residue stays behind . the residue pattern is from the pad, you can see the rotation lines, most of it came off but this is real tough to get off. im using speed 5 with light/moderate pressure, its not holograms, its just residue from 151. It is very hot down here in south fl and very humid, could this be the problem? the car is a silver 3 series bmw 2010. if i shine the brinkman on it you cant see the residue but the light from the garage "a very dim yellow light" shows it if you move your head around to different angles. I need help ASAP so i can finish this car...

I have found D151 is easier to wipe off after you let it dry. Are you doing this or wiping it off wet?

That could very well be the problem, try using a QD to help remove it.

While I like this product better when used with my rotary I have used it many many times with my dual action polisher..

When using a dual action polisher it's imperative that the pad rotates as you perform a criss-cross pattern. When using my dual action polisher I use a Lake Country 5 1/2" diameter White pad on speed 5.

It generally takes 4 to 6 sectional passes to adequately break down the polishing grit. Once the product has done it's job the paint levels nicely leaving a rich glossy shine.

It sounds as if the surface is very warm and "may" be drying prematurely.

    Meguiars Paint Reconditioning Cream D151

    Directions for use

    1. Choose the appropriate pad for your goals. Set a rotary polisher to 1400-2000 RPM. Set a dual action polisher to 4-5.
    2. Work the polish in a 2 x 2 sq. ft. area with overlapping passes. Continue working until imperfections are removed.
    3. Wipe off the residue with a soft Cobra Microfiber Towel.
    4. For even more gloss, perform the same steps using a softer foam pad.

I think this is more than likely what's going on. As I work an area I'll go back and forth in an overlapping pattern not moving the machine too fast otherwise you won't realize the benefit of the product.

I continue this motion and as the product begins to break down it starts to become somewhat transparent. If it starts to dry I'll add a squirt of detail spray just to give it a little more life and working time.

Sectional passes combined with proper arm / machine speed should give you a gorgeous finish when you're finished..

Bobby, I am positive that 151 is a SMAT product. So it doesn't break down. I would say that the heat and humidity are playing a roll but also sounds like you are using a bit too much product. Try using a little bit less product and see how the results are. A QD like Dubbin mentioned can also aid you. I always remove 151 when I am done working a section.
