5.5 LC pad on 6in BP - Does that work?

This may be a silly question, but the reason I ask is because I forgot to purchase the 5in Backing Plate over the 20% off weekend. The other reason is because the funds were drained after that weekend...so if anyone knows whether or not 5.5LC Pads work on 6in backing plates, please let me know ASAP. I would really love to start practicing once my order comes in on July 13th. Thanks everyone!

They will work BUT that leaves a big area of the backing plate left wide open to do major damage to your paint. In other words DON'T DO IT!!!

Yea, a big no no. It leave a .25 of an inch of backplate to scratch your car. Get a five inch backplate!!!!

It is not advisable. If your definition of "work" is can it be done then yes.
    Should it be done? No
The problem is that after placing a 5.5" pad on a 6" plate you end up with 1/4" of plate sticking out all the way around. One panel thats not flat, one slip of your hand, or one rear view mirror against it and you'll regret doing it.

I've used 5 1/2" pads on my 5 1/2" plate and that was scary enough.

Not sure which machine you have. I'm guessing the PC? Here is some discussion about a similar situation with the Flex. What you are asking is riskier then what is discussed in the following thread.

Hopefully you can get the 5" BP asap
