    Hydro-Tech Pads...

I got my new Hydro-Tech pads Tuesday and I finally got to try them out on my own vehicle... WOW! They were working great! I was using a 5.5" Cyan on a Porter Cable 7424, working on the flat bedside of my truck when I noticed a chunk had flown off of the edge/side of the pad. I had only been using it for 10 or 15 minutes. I was using Meg 105 on speed 5. I didn't hit any edges, body seams or anything... Anyone else have this happen??? The pads are great otherwise.

Only problem so far i've had is that those pads seem to wear very fast.Other then that no missing pieces.I would give AG a call and ask them

they do seem to wear out very fast, (especially when you use a lot of pressure with them). However they sure work well, correct fast, and leave a great finish for the next step!

I love my CCS pads from LC.... how do these Hydro tech pads compare to the CCS? I've been using my pads perhaps 2 cars worth of correction. They're still holding strong.

It appears you hit a ridge or something while polishing. Pad is gouged, no flat surface would do that kind of damage to the pad.

Yes, it does appear that way. However, I am quite certain I did not. I have killed foam pads before by hitting body gaps, over-the-rail bed liners, and such. This was not the case.

If you wouldnt mind, please explain how the Hydro pads are wearing out quickly for you two by providing:
    how many uses
what typical step you used these for (compounding, Med polishing etc)
what machine you were using them on
    how much pressure you applied
How many panels you used each pad on prior to cleaning
    How you cleaned the pads
What area of the pad wore out

    Thanks

OK this may be pretty long LOL but i will try
Mine started to wear out on two uses
    I used Megs 105 on a Flex 3401
I used it on speed 6 and 5
Cleaned pad after ever panel using a foam brush and i have a air compressor i used
The center of the pad seemed to be wearing our faster then the edges and i always kept the pad flat.
As far as pressure that's hard to answer but i laid into pretty good of coarse it never stopped spinning.
I will try and take a picture of the pad if i can find were i put my camera that's what happens when you get old you forget were you put things.Or a wife that can't stand when i leave things on the table .
