I hate black
When I use sio2 spray it seems streaky no matter how much I wipe it. Same thing with Optimum opti clean. Toyota’s black is metal flake and it has a faded look to it. No way to get that wet look no matter what you use but at least you see every streak, swirl, scratch and fingerprint. Do a full paint correction and it only takes some dust blowing across it to ruin the work. I’m going to try the Wolfgang sio2 sealant instead of the spray and see how that works but I’ve pretty much given up on it looking good for more than ten minutes. Sorry for the rant but I will never buy black again. How does anyone deal with it?

We don't buy black.......

Even when it's filthy, it's still black...That's a good thing!
Hang in there!

Polish it with CarPro Essence. It’s fantastic on soft black paint!

My way of dealing with Black vehicles is
to really take-to-heart the lyrics found
in George Harrison’s version of:
”Got My Mind Set on You” (org: ca. 1987)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“…it's gonna take money
A whole lotta spending money
It's gonne take plenty of money
To do it right…
It's gonna take time
A whole lot of precious time
It's gonna take patience and time…”
Only you, Bob.........
100% correct, and yet another astute observation including at least one Beatle.
Re: I hate black
You have to REALLY love detailing. Black involves doing something to the car EVERY day (like QDIng and waterless washing) and probably washing it every handful of days, more often than once a week. Proper wash technques are absolutely essential and you probably want to reapply your LSP no longer than every month or so. It's a whole lot of work and it has to be a labor of love otherwise it's simply not worth it.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.
Re: I hate black
I truly believe black is the color to buy. No matter what, black just looks good when it is clean. I have a feeling you are getting streaks with the sio2 due to application technique.
I have had Turtle Wax Ceramic Coating, Turtle Wax Wet Wax, and Griots Garage Ceramic 3 in 1 all streak for me. I had all but given up but I kept working with them and by working 1 panel at a time improved my application technique.
Keep working with it 1 panel at a time and you will master it.
Can’t go wrong with the Wolfgang though.
I agree 100%. Black is a lot of work, but the reward is much greater than with any other color. It has to be black black though and not the washed out metallic blacks like most vehicles are today.
To the OP, The thing that’s helped me the most is learning to accept the fact that it isn’t going to look perfect all the time, but when it does, absolutely nothing looks better. WFH the last year and a half has really helped too.
