Nope. Thanks for your suggestion, but that would have never worked in my case.

I live in a rural area of Long Island which mixes all of the native inshore birds you are familiar with, plus shore and aquatic birds. I have spent my 50 years out here observing the behavior of all of them.
Some, like the common tern, even help me find schools of gamefish on the water.

I did not take the killing of this bird lightly, nor did I find any pleasure in doing so.

But, one of the biggest factors in my decision was observing this bird defending her perceived territory for more than a 150' radius.

Yes, this particular bird would chase any perceived rivals/threats for 150' one way, when a normal robin would turn back after about 40 feet.

I am well schooled in the observation and perception of nature, and while my decision to end this one birds life was tough, I believe it to be right in my situation.
