I've heard the same things. If I had to provide a scale of 1-10 for cutting ability I would say

    HD Polish+ is a 3.5
    HD Speed is a 3
    M205 is a 4
    Menzerna 2500 is a 5
    D166 is a 5

HD Speed provides the same or slightly less cut than a typical finishing polish.

Re: Need advice on HD Speed or Pad

I finally got to testing it on my wife's 06 Honda Odyssey. Her paint is never trashed so I needed a good cutting AIO to pull up the gloss and lay down some protection. I used B&S orange foam and B&S MF finishing pads for spots. Outside in heat, humidity or direct sun it will dust and cake your foam pads quickly. I got two passes before dust kicked up on speed 4.5 on a Griot's 6". I learned keep your pads clean. I cleaned after every buffing cycle with compressed air and a mist of distilled H2O and it was easy cruising and it worked fantastic. I think it's just environment finicky. I used it again to do the underside of the hood. B&S MF finishing pad. Used B&S MF finishing pads was able to do 4 section passes and no dusting, same speed, only difference heat, humidity and sun. Over work this stuff and the sealant will get sticky.
