Flex 3401 vs. Rupes Mille/Makita P5000C, for those that are wondering.

I think it depends on the paint hardness. Harder paint, the forced rotation will finish just fine. Softer, a free spinning DA for sure. I'm not sure how effective the free spin mode will be for the Makita. I'm buying it for the forced rotation, so if the free spinning mode doesn't bog down easily, that will be icing on the cake

Mille
clockwise
5.2mm Stroke
7,490 OPM
14 orbits per rotation at 535 RPM
900 watts
motor amps ???
6.17lbs
PO5000C
Clockwise
5.5mm stroke
6800 OPM
Math comes out to 8.608 orbits per 790 rpm
900 watts
7.8 amp
6.2lbs
3401
counter clockwise
8mm stroke
4800 OPM
10 orbits at 480 RPM
900 watts
9amp
5.73lbs
Mike Phillips may you spin backing plate and count how many orbits per rotation on the PO5000c?

If the price is not too high then looks like I'll be getting a mille to compliment my 21 MKII.

The 3401 spins at 4800 OPM, not the claimed 9600. Kevin Brown tested and proven.

looking forward to some reviews of these polishers,
one would think it was SEMA with all these releases! Always something happening in the detailing industry!

as mentioned.. a test side by side is going to be the true test even with all the stats. it should be interesting...

So, on paper, which should have more cutting power?

id like to say the Mille, but i'm sure it'll be very negligible between Rupes and Makita
