2016 Silverado 3500 High Country Black

Just bought a new silverado 3500 High Country in black and would like to get some good protection on it while it is still new and fresh. Black looks the best clean and shined but is also the worst looking once its swirled up. I looked over a few articles about the black waxes but didn't see any about my specific truck and i know GM is always changing paint so I wanted to check and see what would be best for mine for protection and that deep black gloss. Thanks a bunch

    Congrats on the new pickup!

What kind of equipment do you have on hand to take care of your truck?

I would start off with some reading located here as well as picking up Mike's complete guide to a show car guide.

I personally like WGDGPS (Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant). It offers good durability and looks great on black. FWIW, that's what I used on my truck in my avatar.

Do you have to deal with winter snow and road salt? If so you will want to use a sealant at the very minimum. On black paint I always recommend a coating as it will stand up much longer and stronger than any sealant or wax.

Im in kentucky so you really never know what your going to get with the snow and salt but it never fails we get at least 2 or 3 decent snows every year. I have a basic understanding of most things, i have an older polisher makita 9227 or something like that. Would i need to sealant and wax the truck for best results?

I would say that is an excellent starting kit! Also purchase some extra (dozen or so) high quality microfiber towels and some cheaper MF towels for interior.

ETA: Forget wax, stick with sealant.

Looked at microfibers, which ones are a good quality towel? I say way too many for em to try and decide what ones are good haha

I use both of these. Can't go wrong with either one. There definitely are many choices these days! Lol!

I would suggest picking up a polisher that is much more user friendly such as a DA rather than taking the rotary to your new black truck and installing holograms all over your brand new black truck.

That is unless you have hours upon hours behind this rotary and have the latest and greatest pads and polishes at your disposal.
