1967 Lincoln Continental Single Stage Paint- Extreme Makeover



My buddy Matt's Dad bought this off the showroom floor and Matt says this was the last Continental to roll of the assembly line in 1967. It has 30,000 original miles and everything from the inside out including the convertible top and the paint is all original.

Matt just had this car shipped into Stuart, Florida and my friend Mike Beddel recommended he bring Autogeek his classic Continental to have it detailed.










How-To capture swirls, scratches, etchings and other surface defects with your camera

In the below picture I'm using my finger to give the camera something to focus on so when I turn the flash on I can capture the swirls since the Sun was not out at the time I took these pictures. You can see by the water beads his car is in need of polishing and waxing.

***Update***

The car arrived today for our Detailing Boot Camp Class this weekend so I took a few shots while the sun was out....

We moved this classic Continental into our studio for safe-keeping until this weekend.

Interior Extreme Makeover

We're also going to do and extreme makeover to the interior as you can see it's pretty grimey....














If you look closely at the area below the pull handle you can see a small area that I cleaned to show how much room there is for improvement...

We've also ordered the Dr. Color Chip Road Rash Complete Chip Repair Kit for this car and will be going over how to do rock chip repair using this classic Continental.

Mike, used the Dr. Colorchip this weekend on a clients car, the write up is in show and shine. Took me over and hour to get most of the road rash touched up, and I did it in layers. What I mean by that is that there were so many small chips that I had to do about 50%, then go back and do more until I was down to them all being touched up. My eye could not see all of them as I was working on them.
Anyway, following the instructions, from about 6 feet back, the bumper looks new. I will be ordering more of this in the future, a great way to take care of the chips.

Took me over and hour to get most of the road rash touched up, and I did it in layers. What I mean by that is that there were so many small chips that I had to do about 50%, then go back and do more until I was down to them all being touched up. My eye could not see all of them as I was working on them.

Lots of chips makes it more tedious.... tackling it in layers or waves sounds like a good approach.

Anyway, following the instructions, from about 6 feet back, the bumper looks new.

That's the goal....

I will be ordering more of this in the future, a great way to take care of the chips.

Thats the one, it actually had some areas along the bottom that were scrapes and I was able to hide those with the system as well.
