Stone chips, swirls, scratches, oh my!

There are stone chips all over my front bumper and hood, scratches in the most random places and swirls EVERYWHERE (even though I detailed my car not too long ago).

I also have a black car, so all these imperfections are magnified!

Is there a quick way to fix the chips? I have several dozen! I'm thinking about just putting some black gloss vinyl on my bumper and hood. About how much would that cost if I get a shop to do it? And will it tear from future stones?

And for the scratches and swirls, I'm getting really annoyed. I detailed my car not too long ago (maybe a month?) and the whole body is covered with them again! And since my car has a lot of lines and swooshes, compounding and polishing is a such a hassle.

Anyone have advice on how to fix this?

Dr. Color Chip is very good for covering up rock chips in paint quick and easy and if you do it right it looks pretty good.

Where are you driving that is causing all this damage?

I drove the 15 from Apple Valley to Irvine for 6+ years and that's like driving in a destruction derby and I never had the kind of damage you're seeing?

As for swirls and scratches... clear coats are scratch sensitive, this means they are harder than traditional single stage paints but they still scratch very easily. For this reason after you polish out any car you need to be very careful how you wash the car or touch it in any way. Or the swirls and scratches simply come back.

    That's a good question.

I tend to own things that are not prone to stone chips because there's no painted pane surface area in the front of my truck, just the part on the hood.

When I drove the 15 in SoCal though it was either in a Honda Pilot, (got one rock chip on the 15 that I remember), and a 1974 Datsun 260Z with a low, sloped hood that was prone to rock chips.

    It's a 2012 Mazda 6 in Ebony Black.

And the roads I drive on are pretty normal. It's not really that dusty or anything. Though I do go through construction zones sometimes.
