    Anti-Static Products?

Has anyone successfully used any products that resist dust?
I can wash my cars and dry them in the garage, spray PBSG,and clean the windows, only to use the vehicles the next day (never leave the garage) with dust all over the paint??
Is there such a product that has anti-static properties that will help repel dust from adhering ?

    Thanks

FK425 is what you're looking for. Although nothing is going to "repel" dust but it can keep from attracting dust.

The problem is you cannot remove the static charge in all the dust.

Clear coat paints have a static charge all by themselves, so the most you can do is try to off-set this charge and the best way is to ground the car body, or use the water found in most spray detailers to help remove any surface static charge.

Part of the static problem comes from wiping a dry microfiber cloth over the paint when you're wiping the wax off. Kind of like how a kid rubs a balloon against his hair to make it stand up.

Also, I've tested a lot of waxes and paint sealants and in the testing the panel is stripped bare and only test sections receive wax or sealant, in all the times I've tested, the areas that have wax or paint sealant always attract more dust than the bare, unprotected paint.

But you can't think that you won't apply a wax or paint sealant to avoid dust build up because then you wouldn't get the protection or the beauty characteristics provided by most quality car waxes and paint sealants.

Several of the quick detailers I've used definitely reduce static, but I will still get dust attraction after. On plastic bumper and head/tail lights you can actually fell the static charge lift the hair on your arms. I quick spray with many of my QD's will eliminate that charge, or at least I don't feel my hair lift afterwards.

Actually, since I've applied Opti-Coat to my car the attraction of dust is FAR less then it used to be. Not sure if the other coatings on the market are the same or not but now you have me curious to find out.

Absolutely true, I do the same. I also keep the garage door down whenever possible, especially if am mowing the grass. I started using the FK 425 and there is a noticeable difference in the dust attraction when compared to a fresh coat of carnuba wax . The dust gets so bad with the nuba wax on my black car it almost looks like breading. FK will help the situation and it is a great detailer product as well. ONR washing 3 times a week at least to keep up with it.

This is a great "Best Practice"
(Or even sweeping the floor really good)

    The Professional Detailer's mantra...

    Work clean...
    Work clean...
    Work clean...

Working clean is the first step to a show car finish.

It's important to do all you can do and the most you can do when trying to create a show car finish.
