What to do..... What to do?
Hi,
So I’ve been watching some Chemical Guys videos and they really have me wanting to step up my game from elbow grease guy to mechanical weekend warrior.
I’ve spent the last couple days trying to decide witch polisher to get (glad I didn’t just jump onto the torq brand from Chemical Guys as you fellas seem to think it’s not really that good).
I picked up the GG6” this afternoon based on all the info I’ve read in here but the questions and answers seem to only get broader from here.
The 6.5” pad is huge! Wanna go to a 5” backing plate.
Does the Chemical Guys flexible backing plate actually serve any good purpose and how about their pads? Are they any good?
Or should I just stick to Griot’s stuff...............

Good purchase. I started with that one as well and use it often with both a 5" and 3" backing plate. Use the GG 15mm for bigger things. The pads from CG are made by a company that is used here as well, Buff & Shine I think but don't quote me on that one. Wasn't a big fan of the hexlogic but some are. I like the B&S Flats and even Lake Country Flats... the Thin Pros work very well with the GG6 too!... the griots work as well but can be high... the microfiber pads of Meguiar's and Lake Country are great... idk... sometimes have to get some to see what works for you and/or your machine, etc... good luck

You can go with Lake Country's backing plates or the GG, both will serve you well. As for pads I use Lake Country, GG, and Detailed Image's stuff - never really been disappointed so never needed to go beyond these 3. When I was little I went to a pretzel factory and learned this factory made pretzels for several companies.... I kinda have a sense pads are manufactured similarly. Quality pads last longer, plain and simple - and yeah go with the 5" plate and pads.
Enjoy the upgrade!!!
