Cleaning thick pillow top cloth. Please advise

The problem area is my mattress.

We recently purchased a king sized pillow top
mattress for my back. It was a higher end mattress. (If you've been mattress shopping in the past 3 years you know how over priced these things are). The other day our daughter wasn't feeling well. Stomach problems. After vomiting my wife took her into our room and sat with her as she feel asleep. Hours later my wife heard the sounds of vomiting again and rushed to her side. The sheets caught most of it but the mattress had a couple of wet spots. She sprayed resolve on it and wiped it with a damp cloth. She then called me and asked is there something in the garage to handle this? I have autoglym and optimun intr cleaners. that's about it. I told her just wait, I'll deal with it later.

So have any of you taken your auto cleaning knowledge and applied it to a situation like this? I guess i could ask, what would you use to clean cloth seat cushions that had a similar stain?
    Please help!

I had to deal with this on my old mattress (recently just bought a new one) which had the pillow top.

I ended up using some simple green diluted to about 1:3 sprayed it on, scrubbed with a soft bristle brush and then used my shop vac to suck out the water. It worked awesome. You could also try some distilled white vinegar diluted. May stink until it's completely dry but will eliminate the vomit odor.

i got it. A portable Steam cleaner.

A blast of steam into the foam should sanitize the area.

There are also bacterial neutralizers on the market that attack the problem at the microscopic level neutralizing or killing the problem causing bacteria. You can find these at WalMart or pet stores.

    They work very well.

Thanks jay. i hope to achieve the same results as throwing out the mattress is not an option.

You need to get an enzyme cleaner.

Spray more enzyme cleaner onto the spot, and repeat the process one or two more times to ensure that you've soaked up the majority of the stain.

Like others said, an enzyme cleaner, one intended for vomit (needs to be a purpose-matched cleaner).

With the powder products (like baking soda) leave the powder on the area until it has dried completely before cleaning up the powder (or repeat until dry). Cover the powder with a clean cloth and place a weight on it to help soak up moisture deep in the cloth/padding.

Use a mixture of 1 to 10 bleach to water, to kill bacteria.

It's always good to have some FOLEX around the house, (probably won't do much for the smell, but it's great for stains) couple buck's at Home Depot.

Next time, put a bucket by the bed, lined with a kitchen garbage bag for easy clean-up. A wad of paper towels or rags at the bottom will help prevent splashing. An ounce of prevention...
