Comparing Sealants Objectively

I am coming to find that comparing sealants is much like comparing vacuums.

None of the manufacturers seem to use the same objective measurements. Some use inches of lift, some horsepower. It ends up boiling down to relying on the subjective reviews of others.

Wouldn't it be great if all sealant manufacturers gave us this data like Nanoskin does

Why aren't glossmeters used in some standardized way and the data made available.

I think it has to do with marketing. If you definitively determine which sealant has the highest reflectivity, durability, scratch resistance, etcetera...there would be less incentive for users to try multiple different products.

Unless I'm missing it...I don't even see any glossmeter results in the above Nanoskin chart.

I agree, Nanoskin only provides some of the data.

I am sure that a company like Meguiar's has a set check-list of product properties that they use to objectively compare different formulations during the product development process.

Just looking at the lengths that Meguiar's goes to protects its: "T.S.-Oils" leads me to believe it would
be similar to: "getting blood from a turnip"...to gain access to any assortment of their formulations.

Why...Aren't they even supposed to be a separate, autonomous-entity from their 3M-Guardianship?
