Review-Metro Vac N Go 500

So last week I was the winner of the Metro Vac n Go 500
vacuum. First thing I have ever won. Once again, Thank you
AG. I sent my information to Meghan and did not hear from
her nor did I receive any shipping information. Well I get
home on Friday night and sitting on my porch is a
box with the PBMA tape that we all look forward to.

Here is the link to the product:

Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Company

I want to start this review by saying that I am not a pro detailer. I have
always kept my vehicles clean with OTC products and then discovered
Autogeek.net. This was the beginning of the end....Of my money that is.

Last night the weather was finally nice enough for me to work on my test
vehicle. It is my daily driver that I have slowly been bringing back from the
dead. Every time I get a new product I try it out on this car. So let the
games begin....

Details

The Metro Vac N Go 500 is a 500 watt (approx 2/3 hp) vacuum that
weighs around 3 pounds. AG included the flexible hose with the
product. It is a nice stainless steel machine, small which makes it
portable and comes with three attachments (a crevice tool, a brush
tool, and a funnel type tool). It also includes two vacuum bags.

Process

I began by removing all of the clothes and detailing products/equipment
that I am constantly carrying with me. Just in case the detailing bug bites.
I also picked up all of the peanuts that accompany the products inside
the boxes that are taped up with the PBMA tape that we all love to see.
Thus I began vacuuming. I started with the funnel type tool attached
to the 3 foot hose. At first not much was happening. Then I noticed
that the hose has a suction adjustment (not sure why). It was at full
open (there is a small hose that redirects the suction from the front of
the hose to the side). I put in on the full off position and the vacuum
did start to pick up debris. I decided to take the hose off and attach
the funnel tool directly to the vacuum and this worked better as far as
suction but it was a bit to big to use that way. I removed the funnel
tool, reattached the hose and used it that way without the funnel tool. When finished with the main areas of the carpet, I attached the crevice
tool and went to town between the seats and center console and in the
map pockets. It did a great job in this area.

Outcome

The Vac N Go picked up most of the dirt/sand/debris that was in the
vehicle. I must say it took a long time to vacuum the entire car.
What usually takes me 5 minutes or so took about 20 minutes. This
is due in part to the lack of power that does not allow you to really
use the funnel type tool when using the hose. It did do a great job with the
crevice tool in the map pockets.

Pros
Small and portable
Crevice tool is the right size for auto detailing
Light weight

Cons
Vacuum bags are very small
Does not have wet vac capability
Power/suction

Bottom Line
This is a good vacuum to carry in your vehicle or
RV to do quick spot clean ups of dirt, sand and debris.
I feel that it is not powerful enough to be used as
a detailers vacuum especially since it does not
have wet vac capability. The small bags will
fill quickly if you have a car full of wrappers,
sand, and dirt.
I held off purchasing a wet vac when I was alerted
that I won. However, after using this vacuum I will
be purchasing a wet vac and using this vacuum for
small clean ups.

Pictures to follow as soon as I find my camera cable.

Edit: Ok Meghan, found my camera cable. My dog did not eat it but point well
taken. Once Again thank you for the vac. I really do appreciate it.
