Re: looking to go back and try a coating
OP, I've never used a coating but CQuartz UK was recommended to me by the guys who put the clear bra on the Mas. With your comment, can I ask: are you saying it fees "grabby" to you when compared to a freshly polished surface? Or compared to other coatings, or compared to a freshly waxed surface? I ask because I like that slick feel also, and noticed no decrease in it after application of sealant and wax. Thanks.

it has that feel compared to a freshly polished or just waxed surface. i really cant compare it to another coating because it is the only one i have tried thus far. that is why i posted. hoped to get others that have tried different coatings and will give advise on a few different coatings. Have you tried cquartz ?

I think this depends on what is being used as a "topper." I agree with you that anything put on top of the coating will, by definition, be the top layer and the look and feel will reflect the topper as opposed to the coating. I have no problem putting a QD/Gloss booster product on top of a coating to get a slick feel, which I prefer. Products such as HD touch, Griots Speed Shine, V7, even Meg's D156, look great, feel slick, but since these type of products aren't truly designed to give any significant protection (with the possible exception of D156) they will be removed with a weekly or bi-weekly 2BM wash. The coating is there for a layer of long term protection. I do agree with you that I don't see a reason to apply a true LSP such as a wax or sealant on top of a coating, other the enjoyment many of us get from playing around with products. That benefits the person more than the paint, which is a perfectly valid reason to do so if one is so inclined.

OP, Maybe I'll stop by their shop (Modern Image) this week and see what they've been working on and what they've been using. They do mostly films on exotics but I'm not sure the variety of coatings that they use. If I do, I'll let you know what I find.
