    Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3

I'm off to purchase a Rug Doctor from Sam's Club for home and car use. While out I was going to stop off at Home Depot and pick up some Zep products. However, HD has Zep Extractor Carpet Shampoo and Zep Premium Carpet Shampoo. Is the Rug Doctor considered an extractor or a shampooer?

I use the Zep for extracters in my rug doctor machine with good results. Pick up some Folex to treat the spots and you should have good results.

I sort-of "inherited" a Rug Doctor yesterday -- basically I can hang on to it as long as I keep it in good shape.

Is it really any good for detailing? I realize there is no heating element, but from what i understand the vacuum is very powerful.

Yes. I use it on floor mats regularly. Add hot water and it does a nice job.

I bought one about 6 weeks ago to use at the house. I have used it on a couple of cars using the Rug Doctor soap (that came with the unit) with good results.

Thanks for the responses! Looks like a little jackpot, then. The same friend -- he's trying to sell his house and the "staging" means he's de-cluttering every room, including the garage -- has also let me hang on to his 7 hp Honda-powered BE Pressure washer...

If you haven't bought it yet, get the Bissell Big Green deep cleaner. A far superior unit. I have rented a ton of rug doctors and finally after renting a Bissell I bought it. For home interior use it cleans forward and backward with a rotating brush instead of an agitator bar like the Rug Doctor. Removable solution tank for filling and cleaning, the Rug Doctor is built in. The hand held attachments I found easier to hook up as well. I am going on year number three with mine and it sees about monthly use in the home due to 3 German Shepherd/Dutch Shepherd dogs. It extracts and dries the carpet significantly faster than the Rug Doctor as well.
