Color Shifting Paints - Photo Collection

I thought it would fun to create a thread with pictures of cars with color shifting paints.

We recently had a new member join with a 1996 Mystic Cobra who captured just an awesome picture of his car that showcases the entire idea behind this type of paint technology. So if you come across a picture that showcases the way the paint changes color, feel free to add it to this thread.

I think I took this one at SEMA this year...

I use to see them here in Houston, but not lately. They are also known as a "Flip-Flop" paint job. They are rare though.

While driving to last years Detail Fest, I seen a mid to late
80's Chevy Caprice, 4 door, with 24's and Kameleon paint. I only wish I had that picture. I could write a book on, How to blow money and have nothing.
It was at the southern end of Lake Okeechbee. He was livin large, all the BLING BLING, cool as a MUTHA.

Paint is pretty wicket. Actually have some raw pigment for 6 of the colors that my dad was able to get his hands on when his company was looking at making the paint. Ended up scrapping the project but now we have the pigments. Made some color shifting nail polish for my sister to match her outfit once haha.

Those mystic cobras are very cool. People at carshows have a hard time believing that Wish4svts car is a factory paint job.

I remember when those Cobras came out with the Mystic paint back in the 90’s. My dad ran the Parts, Service and Body Shop at a ford dealer back then and I remember him telling me that BASF manufactured that Mystic paint and if one of those mustangs ever came in to the body shop for repair, they had to get authorization from BASF and then BASF would give them just enough paint needed for the repair. At the time, not just anyone could get that paint to use. Pretty neat.

Wow thanks alot Mike! Like Mark Preus said, people usually don't believe it's factory paint. He even explained it to someone at our last show while people were looking/asking about his car! Lol! I don't know how many times I've been asked "where or who painted it". Ford assymbly plant! It's cool in the sense that the car is pretty rare for people to think it's just another car that got a "flip flop" paint job.

Color Shifting? Are you talkin' about changin' from blaze orange to Realtree for spring turkey season?

LOL! Check out the House of Kolor site. Some amazing products. They have an incredible variety of flakes too.
