The Big Bad DeWalt DWP849X is in stock!

Last week the new DeWalt DWP849 was launched and we're very excited to announce that its big brother, the DWP849X, is now in stock and ready to ship!

The DWP849X has all the standard features of the DWP849 but features a more user friendly design. The DWP849X comes with a three position bale handle that is fully adjustable along with the standard side handle. The casing of the unit features soft grip rubber handle along with a rubber gear case to prevent marring or scratching if contact accidentally occurs with the paint.

DeWalt listened to all the professional detailers and avid enthusiasts when engineering the DWP849X because it now has the ability to start a 600 RPM along with a CFS Controlled Finishing System with soft start to ensure a high quality finish every time. The unit is also several pounds lighter than its predecessor for increased accuracy and comfort during extended periods of polishing.

The DWP849X includes a hook and loop backing plate along with a wool compounding pad. To ensure that no wool fibers get in the air intake, decreasing the life of the machine, the DWP849X features wool ingestion shields.

    Features:

    • Powerful, 12.0 Amp, all ball-bearing construction for long life and performance for the most demanding applications
    • Electronic module maintains specified speed under load delivering better finish results
    • Conveniently located variable speed dial lets user set maximum speed from zero to 600/3500 rpm for different materials and applications
    • Variable speed trigger allows user to control speed from 0 to dialed maximum setting
    • Heat-treated, precision-cut steel gears for smooth operation
    • Wool Ingestion Shields eliminates wool ingestion increasing tool life and reducing service costs
    • Non Mar Rubber Gear Case Cover reduces surface imperfections and improves gripping surface

    Specifications:

    Amps 12.0Amps
    Max Watts Out 1250W
    No Load Speed 0-600 / 0-3,500rpm
    Spindle Thread 5/8"-11
    Spindle Lock Yes
    Tool Length 17.3"
    Tool Weight 6.5 lbs

Please don't take this the wrong way, but do you own one and know for sure? I ask because the poster above me also bought the 849x model and he says it does not have soft start.

    Taken from the OP:

    • Variable speed trigger allows user to control speed from 0 to dialed maximum setting

I understand that to be soft start.

yea dewalt might think that gently pulling the trigger is considered slow start. as far as makita's go you pull all the way on the trigger which is a real soft start.
