To buy 3401 now or wait ?
Hey all, I am thinking to get a 3401 as my first machine tool. I am just about to jump in, and noticed that there may be an update on horizon in a few weeks.
So I am just questioning to get it now, or wait and see what improvements are incorporated in the new product?
Appreciate your feedback.

i say go for it, it's been a proven workhorse and who knows at some point if it stops being produced, you'll have yourself a collector's item that's been tried and true...

They just released the orbital 15 mm long throw and it's available on autogeek right now.

I would wait few weeks (or month) and get the updated unit, supposedly runs cooler and new shroud/head area is more comfortable to hold and cooler to the touch. New forced rotation unit should be out soon it was being showcased at sema with the new 15mm unit and that just came out this week.

I'm also interested in upgrading to this new Flex polisher once it's announced this spring. Any idea what it'll sell for price-wise? I am little surprised that the new Flex just released sells for MORE than the 3401?

Depends how badly you want it. If you can wait, get the updated one. You will not get better correction from it, just different ergonomics. Then again, the new unit might be priced pretty high.
