What setting for 3401 and HD Speed
Just wondering what the optimal speed setting is for using HD Speed with the 3401? I used it for the first time earlier this week and iirc I was at 4-4 1/2. Worked fine for me, but want to see what everyone else is doing.
Thanks in advance.

I haven't used Speed but when I am using an AIO I am usually on speed 4 with the 3401.

There is no set speed, as clear coats have different hardness. A softer clear, you could try speed 4. With a hard clear, you may need speed 6. Test spot.

Thanks guys. My main worry is if higher speed reduced the amount of time available to work the product. I will experiment with different speeds.

On Chevy paint I've used 5 and 4 on Subaru. Long working time

If the paint is not soft, I use speed 6. The 3401 only spins at 4800 Max OPM's. Granted, it is forced rotation.

Re: What setting for 3401 and HD Speed
I used speed 5 with a green and an orange cutting pad, the orange worked better. As above the 3401 is a slow opm machine with a short throw by today's standards, you need higher speeds and firm pressure to get results out of it.

I am usually around 5 and I mainly use Orange pads with speed, havent yet found a case that a White was what I was looking for but I do some pretty bad cars.
