Candy Apple 1955 Ford F100 with Black Label Diamond Paint Coating

Candy Apple 1955 Ford F100 with Black Label Diamond Paint Coating

Here's another really sweet streetrod we had for the 2014 season of My Classic Car with Dennis Gage.

We shot two different segments with this custom Ford F100 one of them sharing Pinnacle's Black Label Diamond Paint Coating.

There were some swirls and a few random isolated deeper scratches in the paint and in the short amount of time I had I did my best to remove them off the hood which we would use to demonstrate our new coating.

After we shot this segment I did use the new Black Label Diamond Surface Cleansing Polish with a Porter Cable to prep the paint and then I applied the Black Label Diamond Coating to the front clip.

Now that this product line has been introduced Max is having me send the owner the complete Black Label line of products as a thank you for letting us use his truck.

Here's a few pictures from this segment...

Here's the truck after Mike the Grip positioned it on the set.

Here's Dennis, Max and me working through what we want to cover in this segment...

Here you can see some of the swirls and scratches...

I really needed to take a rotary buffer to the paint but I had the Flex 3401 already out and ready to use so I just did the best I could in the time I had...

    Some pretty deep scratches...
I used an orange foam cutting pad first and that removed all the swirls, it didn't get out all the really deep scratches. Some were deep enough that it would probably be faster to machine sand them first using some #3000 followed by #5000 but on a TV set you really don't have time as a luxury. In this shot I'm re-polishing with a soft foam pad and Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish to max out the gloss and clarity.

    Working with Dennis...

These shots were taken after we shot this segment. I didn't want to send the truck home with the owner with the coating only applied to the passenger side hood so I knocked out the entire hood and tops of the fenders...

Here I'm misting some Black Label Diamond Paint Coating onto the hood...

Here I'm misting some Black Label Diamond Coating onto my foam finger pocket to lubricate it a little...

    Applying the coating...

Giving the paint a very soft, careful final wipe...

    Bazinga!

This was a really cool truck to have on the show and truck like these are so much fun to work on compared to a Honda. (Nothing against Hondas, or any new car).

This is the kind of "vehicle" that is the norm for My Classic Car and even for shows like Overhaulin.

    It's Chip Worthy.

I also believe that anyone watching this show or even the work we do cars and trucks like this at our Thursday night projects are smart enough to figure out that if they buy and use the same products I show on show cars they can get the same kind of results on their car no matter what it is...

The truck came in with some very deep scratches in the hood that could be seen on camera. On a TV shoot like this there is NOT a lot of extra time to get real deep on a buff-out so I did the best I could in the time I had to remove as many of the scratches out of the hood that I could. Sad to say I couldn't get the deepest scratches out.

    Very nice truck...

Makes the paint on this old Ford look very clear and glassy like paint should look and it will do the same for your car too.

Mike...... that is absolutely incredible! I don't think anything else needs to be said, except that the low grill shot is my FAVORITE!

    Thanks for educating and inspiring!

Looks great as all of your work does!! Did you apply black label surface coating by finger pocket or the lake country pad?
