How to remove overspray paint using the Cyclo Polisher

How to remove overspray paint using the Cyclo Polisher

Cyclo has added Nanoskin Autoscrub Pads to their line of high quality products. Pictured below are the Fine Grade and Medium Grade.

To remove the overspray paint off this 1949 Chevy Pickup we used the Medium Grade.

For these pads we used the Cyclo Mark 5 Pro which is the Variable Speed Model. We used the pad on the 5.0 speed setting.

How to clean your Nanoskin Autoscrub Pads

Here you can see the yellow overspray paint that built up on the face of the Cyclo Nanoskin Autoscrub Pads. I've placed some brand new pads next to them on the right to make the yellow color a lot easier to see.

    Left Side = Used Pads

Right Side = Brand New Pads that have never been used.

Here you can actually see yellow paint building up in the on the tiny rubber pads...

Here's a way to clean them using Blackfire Clay Cleaner and Extender and a soft, nylon detailing brush.

In the below picture I've only cleaned one half of each pad to show the visual difference between before and after.

This is a close-up of the pad on the right in the picture above...

And here's the same to used pads after cleaning and rinsing both sides.

    Paint Overspray Color Ghosting

Here's the before pictures, if you look carefully you can see YELLOW GHOSTING outlining all the perimeters of the green body panels...

After the overspray paint has been removed...

When I look at the after pictures the yellow color ghosting is gone...

    Hi Mike,

I can see the ghosting you're talking about...and I can see that it's been removed as well.

Is that a reflection of the floor underneath that left headlight, or is that some sort of stain? At first glance I thought it was a stain, but now I'm thinking it is a reflection.

Yeah I seen it too. Probably because this thing had a ton of overspray on it...

I'm pretty sure it's reflection. We mop and shine the floor every other week and even once a week if needed, so the Racedeck TuffShine tiles are usually pretty shiny.

    Yes.

For the Cyclo you would need two pads.

Also see my article on how to clean them because anytime you're removing overspray it has to end up somewhere and that somewhere is on the face of the pads.

Guess I should have elaborated. Will one medium grade be adequate for my 7424XP with heavy overspray?
    Thanks again Mike.

    Yes.

One medium grade Nanosking Autoscrub Pad will be enough to mechanically decontaminate your car's paint.
