Question about supplied PC4724XP pad and stainless steel…

I just received by Porter Cable 7424XP last night and was wonder, can I use the supplied polishing pad to polish stainless steel? I knew I wasn't going to use it for cars (I have a gaggle of LC pads on the way), so I already polished our brass kick plate. But given stainless steel texture do you think that pad would do a good job with some SS polish? Thanks!

What is the actual component you're working on?
What is the condition?
What is the goal?


Stainless steel is very hard and thus very hard to undo years of neglect without the proper tools. A foam pad on a DA Polisher can help depending upon what you're working on and what you're trying to accomplish.

Thanks Mike! I should've clarified, I'm actually talking about brushed stainless steel like is used on inside kitchen appliances. Sorry about that, I've got migraine-brain. But I do actually have a truck with some SS on it that'll need polishing soon, so thanks!

Some (if not all) appliances have a clear coat finish.

One way to see if it has a CC, take a bit of cleaner wax and try it on a hidden area...did the applicator turn dark? Did it stay 'clean'? Dark=No CC, Clean=CC.

That said, Her reefer came out FANTASTIC!
