If you mean the OPT ones, No. But if you mean the style of BP, yes. I doubt I will be going back to a standard BP unless using wool. They just allow you to apply pressure much more evenly and really help the pad conform around curves. I really really love this style BP after using them just a short while.

Thanks for the feedback Doc! This is what I assumed. I have been hearing very good things about these BP's. Gonna pick one up soon. Think I'll go with the megs W66 for now.

I 100% agree. I got the Megs Solo and love it. Anybody want a 6" LC BP?

It made a ton of diffference on my Dewalt 849X. It should do similar on your new Flex!

Re: Trend: Flexible Backing Plates for Rotary Buffers

A lot of the time I type on forums it's using a style called, typing for the future

The reason why is because as long as the owner of the discussion forum continues to pay their hosting bill the forum will be around for the future and all the information on the forum will continue to help others into the future...

On that note, if you're new to the rotary buffer, I would whole heartedly recommend getting a quart of Menzerna UF 4500 as a must-have polish in your arsenal of products.

Not only is it one of the best ultra fine cut polishes available, it's a very good polish for a rotary buffer newbie to practice with. It has a long buffing cycle, easy wipe-off and because it doesn't offer much cut it's very safe to use and practice with while you're learning the way of the rotary buffer...

Two more great fine cut polishes to have in your product arsenal are,

Meguiar's M205 Ultra Finishing Polish <-- I like very much

Optimum Finish Polish <-- I like very much

All of the above polishes work great when buffing with the 5.5" pads and flexible backing plate shown on the first page of this thread.

    Flex-Foam HD Rotary Backing Plate

Flex-Foam Backing Plate on a 5.5" CCS White Polishing Pad

    Flex-Foam Backing Plate on a 5.5" Cyan Hydro-Tech Pad

Flex-Foam Backing Plate on a 5.5" Blue Finishing Flat Pad

Flex-Foam Backing Plate on a 5.5" on a Super Soft Gold Jewelling 6" Pad

yes they fit, the only polishers the autogeek backing plates will not fit is polishers that are sold in europe as they use metric threads. as long as the thread size and count is the same you are good to go...
