Re: pads for Griot 6" for start?

Like I said it should suffice for the moment. But when polishing we have to maintain the pads levelled anyways. The only way to really do damage I'm assuming is if you tilt the pad and polish on a tilt. Or if you are planning to try to push full force on the pads to try to flatten them out and have the backing place as close to the paint.

A smaller backing plate is much cheaper than a repair bill from the body shop. Get the smaller plate or get the larger pads. Don't take chances like that is what I say. To even recommend that this would be OK is a bad idea.

Not trying to bust anyone's chops here. It's just that costly mistakes can happen even with the right equipment. A costly mistake will happen if your backing plate is larger than your pad.

No I absolutely agree, I wasn't offended. It was foolish of me suggest such a thing lol.

Re: pads for Griot 6" for start?

thank you for all your answers
I asking those dump questions as I never used DA & pads and don't have 5.5" to see it on 6" plate
I have no idea how it can be pushed and what will be in result
I tried Griots 6" pad and it's so large when I tried to polish ...
For sure I will not go with 7" pads
I have to think about smaller plate & pads

why Griots comes with 6" plate instead of 5" when many agree that 5" plate is more efficient?

I'm just unprepared to buy another plate to replace what I already just paid for ...

I don't know the answer to why their packages comes with 6.5" but I am sure that once you get the 5" backing plate and 5.5" pads you will notice a difference. I bought Griot's DA and I love it. I have only 2 6.5" pads and only because they came with the bundle I bought. The rest are all 5.5".

Re: pads for Griot 6" for start?

My question is if the 5.5" are more effecient than a 6.5", are the 4" better yet? I know it's less coverage but will they work better?
