Anyone tried the Edge 2000 Pads??

Hey guys...was looking into getting some new bigger pads...maybe 6" or so for my PC (only have 4" at the moment)...and was checkin out the Edge set up. They look pretty cool...even thou their video that is attacted to the page on AG is kinda corny lol...but the pads themselves look like a smart design. I was just wondering if anyone has some actual EXPERIENCE with them?

I was considering either The Edge set up...or getting some Megs 2.0 soft buff pads...any suggestions??

Re: Anyone tried the Edge 2000 Pads??

I have the Edge 2K pads in 6" and 8", They work well for me and they last a long time. I used the 6" both on the rotary and DA polishers. I purchased some Cyclo Double Precision 4" pads that also fit the Edge 2K adaptor but found that they sepsrate from the plastic built in plate rather easily.

I recently bought a Flex 3401 and with it I got a few Poorboy's World 5.5" Variable contact pads made for the Flex. They work nicely on the Flex, PC and the rotary. These pads are very tough pads with no velcro separation issues and they center a lot easier than most other pads. I will not buy any other pads from here on out.

As for 4" pads I use the Genuine Cyclo pads they are superior to any other pad because of the way the velcro is not only glued to the pad but sealed with glue around the outer edge of the velcro as well. I have most of my original Genuine Cyclo pads from 2 years ago and the velcro is still glued securely after hundreds of washing. Other 4" pads seem to only last through maybe 2 details before the velcro begins to separate from the pad.

These are my findings after purchasing more than 100 pads of various makes and sizes.

Wow! Thanks for the info! I'll have to put some of this knowledge to work for me.

I have a S.U.V. project coming up that I'm using the Cyclo for and am also using the Double Precision pads for the machine cleaning and polishing, I'll keep an eye out for any issues.

One thing for sure, the Double Precision pads with the right counterweights reduce the already nominal vibration even more...

For anyone reading this wondering what these pads look like when being used on a Cyclo I used them in this recent video...

Re: Anyone tried the Edge 2000 Pads??

It gets the jobs done, even for a DA. However i have a compatibility problem of the Edge2K setup with Megs DA, but fine on the UDMv1. They just don't want to rotate, guess the quick release adapter might be too heavy for the free floating spindle. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what's wrong with it. But overall Edge2K is a nice setup to have if you can get it work, you have that quick release button for easy removal and two sided pad so you don't have to wash and change pad for every job.

Re: Anyone tried the Edge 2000 Pads??

I have actually never used them on the Cyclo but on the G110V2 and Rotary. I got into a few corners and edges and that is when the foam separated from the plastic. I am admitedly hard on pads and machines as I do a lot of severly neglected cars, trucks, toolboxes etc. if it can be shined I'll do it for the fast buck. I have not had this issue with the 6 or 8 inch EDGE pads.

Re: Anyone tried the Edge 2000 Pads??

I have used the edge system for several years and have no issue with it. My problem is I just like to try other things so I have several styles of pads and backing plates . But the edge system is great in that you can swap pads instantly between multiple machines .With out having to change backing plates.

Dave, when you use it on 110v2 does it bog down a lot? Mine kinda stop rotating with the slightest pressure, so it jiggles around and sometimes rotates counterclockwise. Tried to spray qd for lubrication without luck either.. Thanks
