Fuzion by Machine?

I'm a newbie and I was wondering if you can apply Wolfgang Fuzion with DA polisher? I love the product, but just got a GG 6" DA polisher and thought I could only use a liquid polish.

How to apply a paste wax by machine
You'll need a DA Polisher like this Porter Cable 7424XP with a 5.5" Flat Gray Finishing Pad, Dodo Juice Banana Armour Hard Wax and some Microfiber Gloves. For this step you could substitute any quality finishing wax or paint sealant. Here's a list of finishing waxes, sealants and hybrids.

For this procedure I'm going to place a microfiber glove over one hand in order to hold the wax without contaminating it or without it slipping out of my hand.





To get the wax out of the plastic jar you just have to carefully knock it out using inertia by holding the jar upside down and then knocking it against your other hand with a Microfiber Glove on it.








Then hold the polisher in one hand and the wax in your other hand with the glove on it and blip the on/off button of the polisher while holding the wax against the face of the pad and you can quickly transfer wax to the pad.




The Microfiber Gloves keep the wax clean until you place it back into the jar and enable you to grip the wax so it doesn't slip out of your hand and onto the floor...

It takes a little muscle to do this because in one hand you're holding the wax and the other hand is holding the polisher for the duration of time it takes to run the polisher over every square inch of the car. If you had a helper they could hold the wax with microfiber gloves on and you could use both hands to hold the polisher, then as you needed more wax your helper could apply the wax while you hold the polisher, otherwise hit the gym.

In the forum world you'll often read people talking about getting the "Sun Shot" , that's where they pull their project car out into the sun to show there are no swirls in the paint.

The below shot is kind of like the "Sun Shot", but I call it the "Fun Shot" because I was just having some fun with the Dodo name in wax.

I used a rubberband to hold a Cobra Indigo Microfiber Bonnet over a 3" Griot's Garage Polishing Pad on a DA Polisher and took the wax off only where the word DODO was spelled out and then pulled the car into the sun for a "Fun Shot".

Yep, this is how you get the high overhead shot, you have to get up in the air a little ways...





Removing the wax
After capturing the fun shot I pulled the car back into our studio and let the hood cool down and then removed the wax by hand using Cobra Indigo Microfiber Towels. Always fold your towels 4 ways to give you 8 sides to wipe with and to provide cushion to spread out the pressure of you hand.

Thank you so much. I just went through the article and it makes sense. I can't wait to try it with the Fuzion. I have already had more people comment on my car after claying/Fuzion. With the GG polisher, I wanted to try some additional correction and then wax. However, I was thinking that I'd have to compromise the Fuzion. THANKS AGAIN!

I apply all my LSP's by machine, including Fuzion, Celeste D by CG, Souveran, Midnight Sun. I use my 3" Rupes with a 4" Blue LC pad. I'd suggest getting the 3.5" LC BP to use on your GG6. I have this set up too. For a twist, instead of knocking out the wax from the jar (cuz it can break apart or fall on the ground) I use a small rounded butter knife and spread it across the pad. I specifically started suing Fuzion this way. It makes it really easy to control how much you use. I can do a whole vehicle with about a teaspoon this way.

The neat thing about using the machine is it really does allow you to spread the product evenly and thinly. A very thin coat of Fuzion is all thats needed. If you are getting ANY product on the paint, you are getting enough.

However, with a wax as easy as Fuzion, I am not sure it saves any time though.

I use the short side of an old credit card to scrape out a small amount of wax then use the card to spread it across the surface of the pad like a butter knife.

I flip the jar over on the lid so the puck comes out on the lid, then rub the pad over it. I use a red pad on a DA.

If you want to do it the most econical way then use a Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher with a 4" Rupes white foam pad like I show here.

Machine Waxing

Most people hand apply their waxes but I'm a machine guy. By this I mean I try to do EVERY step by machine and the reason why is because the human hand cannot compete with a machine when it comes to creating the best results. Period.


First a quick lesson on how to machine apply a wax using the Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher with Rupes 4" white foam finishing pads....

Dry to a haze
These next pictures show a thin machine applied coat of Synergy drying. This wax needs to dry to a haze before removing.























Same techniques work on any car, truck or SUV I just tend to get these old cars down to the show car garage.



You can either place the face of the pad into the wax jar and blip the on/off switch or use the blade of a PC wrench or a butter knife or ? to spread some wax onto the face of the pad.
